When I left off the other day, I mentioned that the bestie and I were going out walking in an effort to get our steps in. Well, life happens and unfortunately, walking that night did not. However, since then, we have made up for it, and we even included one of our other best girlfriends to join us. Maggie (pictured far right) will be tying the knot in early May, so this was a perfect way for her to tone up for her wedding, and for us to get some extra wedding planning done, too! You see, both Mari (pictured center) and I are bridesmaids in Maggie's wedding, and since we all want to look extra fabulous on her wedding day, we figured this step challenge might do just the trick to get us all started (or restarted) on our fitness journey. Hence the term, "Step Sisters."
While on our most recent walk, all three of us shared that we would like to lose 30lbs by the wedding. In an effort to keep each other motivated and accountable, we decided to use the Fitbits we all had and make a challenge out of it! Since we have about three months until the wedding, we figured that would be the time-frame we would give ourselves to complete the challenge.
Here's how it will work:
Initially, we all pitched in $30 to officially join the challenge.
At the end of each month, the girl who lost the most weight will be treated to a pedicure by the other two girls.
At the end of the three months, whoever lost the greatest total amount of weight will receive a $90 gift to Kendra Scott (since we're all obsessed!). See what we did with $30 buy-in? Totally worth it!
So far, we are all totally pumped and motivated to look better, feel better, and have a shot at a really beautiful KS piece! Here's hoping it gets us to our real goal of looking ab-fab for the wedding!
Till next time!

Get to Steppin'
"Gotta get my steps in!" I tell myself...
In an effort to get to a healthier me, I need to get steppin'. What I mean is, I need to work on getting at least 10k steps in daily. According the the American Heart Association and the Center for Disease Control, this is the amount of steps a person should get daily to maintain a healthy heart and a healthier life style.
Ten thousand steps a day might sound easy, but when you work a desk job like I do, it can seem like a daunting task. Thank goodness I work for an organization that is promoting personal wellness, and they have created a challenge at work to motivate us all in to getting our daily steps accounted for. Essentially, if we average 9k steps or more a day over 21 days, we'll be entered in to win a prize valued at $100. I've always wanted to take better care of myself, but having the incentive at work definitely helps! Before you know it, it will become habit and we'll all be a little healthier as a result.
So tonight, me and the bestie are going walking after work at the neighborhood elementary. Check in next week to see how I am coming along and if I might be contender for that $100 prize!
